Planning Your Performing Arts Venues to Build Campus Identity
Presenter(s): Mark Bertolami, Florida State University; Kara Hill, Hammel, Green and Abrahamson; Jamie L. Milne-Rojek, Hammel, Green and Abrahamson Architects
Convener: Elizabeth Arcuri, New School University

This presentation will identify the unique aspects of non-classroom buildings, and their place in the campus context. Presenters will describe the problems and opportunities inherent in the performing arts building type, and outline strategies and processes to best plan for successful integration with the campus and the desired campus identity. Focusing on a current concert hall project at Florida State University with other current examples, this session presents a new way to look at campus context, architectural guidelines and building programming.

This knowledge resource from SCUP is a concurrent session presented at the Society's thirty-eighth annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–38, in Miami Beach, FL (USA), in July of 2003.

Audiocassettes and MP3's (on CD's) of these and other SCUP–38 sessions are available for purchase here.
