Key Issues in the Upcoming Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act The major education focus of the 108th Congress will be reauthorizing the Higher Education Act of 1965. While much of the attention will revolve around the traditional issues of access and accountability in the federal student aid programs, other issues are emerging, such as the rise of distance education and the quality of our nation's teacher education programs. This session will discuss these and other issues, as well as the political process involved in the reauthorization. |
