What Forms Institutional Identity?
Presenter(s): Janne Corneil, Sasaki Associates; Denis J. Curry, MGT of America Inc; Robert Sabbatini, Sasaki Associates Inc
Identity is established both through the educational mission and the institution¹s physical environment, and is a key focus for colleges and universities. Master plans recently completed for two Claremont Colleges reveal that differences in the focus of curriculum translate to a marked difference in their image and campus environment. Given that these two small colleges are leaders in their subject areas and share many characteristics, this provides a basis for examining formation of institutional identity. |
