Mission Possible: Finding New Ways To Deliver Medical Education in Northern Virginia

Presenter(s): Charlene Connolly, Northern Virginia Community College; Gregory S. Lukmire, The Lukmire Partnership, Inc; P. Martin Sharpless, Gilbane Building Company
Convener: Jerry Percifield, O'Neal - Architects & Engineers

Healthcare professionals leave Northern Virginia to pursue advanced degrees while private institutions offer a limited number of health sciences degree programs. Ending the need for healthcare professionals to leave and satisfying public demand for affordable education, Northern Virginia Community College is creating a specialized medical education campus, the first among Virginia¹s 23 community colleges. Forming innovative collaborations with George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth Universities and the secondary school systems, the college will deliver education for healthcare professionals under a unique shared governance agreement.

This knowledge resource from SCUP is a concurrent session presented at the Society's thirty-seventh annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–37, in San Diego, CA (USA), in July of 2002.

Audiocassettes of this and other SCUP–37 sessions are available for purchase here.

Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP–37, our digital archives of SCUP–37 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well.
