Improving Teaching and Learning with Technology: Sixth College. A Model for Description, Planning, and Implementation

Presenter(s): Gabriele Wienhausen, University of California-San Diego
Convener: Melinda G. Spencer, University System of New Hampshire

Over the next twelve months, the University of California San Diego (UCSD) will open its sixth undergraduate college. This presents a unique opportunity to integrate technologies in ways that can enhance educational delivery. Both, education technology infrastructure and curriculum are being co-developed, with technology integrated rather than tacked on. Sixth College presents new opportunities, but also new requirements for equipment, collaborative learning spaces, and ongoing technology support. Sixth College¹s strategic approach is intended to be a unifying vision that guides investments in teaching, learning, and technology.

This knowledge resource from SCUP is a concurrent session presented at the Society's thirty-seventh annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–37, in San Diego, CA (USA), in July of 2002.

Audiocassettes of this and other SCUP–37 sessions are available for purchase here.

Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP–37, our digital archives of SCUP–37 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well.
