Building Campus and Community Planning Alliances
Presenter(s): Judith S. Steinkamp, University of Massachusetts
Colleges and universities are in a unique position as "place-based institutions" to act as catalysts in bringing communities, municipalities, institutions, organizations and neighborhood groups together to address issues of mutual concern. Where major corporations once provided this stable base for civic engagement and economic development, colleges and universities are increasingly adopting this role. Through a range of case studies and best practices, this session will provide a primer for initiating productive planning alliances between campuses and communities. Participants will be guided through a step-by-step process designed to build or enhance productive planning relationships. |

| Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP37, our digital archives of SCUP37 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well. |
